With more time on this longer route, you'll have the option to explore a bit of Merzouga itself, visiting a local Berber family, trying your hand at sandboarding, or simply relaxing before continuing the journey. From there, your driver will take you west toward Tinghir and the Todra Gorge, a spectacular canyon with towering rock walls that narrow to just a few meters apart, perfect for a short walk or a break to admire the scale of the landscape.

Continue on to the Dades Valley, often called the "Valley of a Thousand Kasbahs" for its dramatic rock formations, terraced fields, and traditional earthen architecture. Check in to your accommodation for the night, with time to relax and enjoy the mountain scenery before dinner.

Wake up refreshed for the final leg of your journey, with a scenic morning drive through the Dades Valley's winding roads and rugged rock formations, sometimes referred to as the "Valley of Human Bodies" for their unusual eroded shapes. Continue on to Ouarzazate, often called the "Door of the Desert" and one of Morocco's most fascinating film locations, having hosted major international productions at the Atlas Film Studios. Take some time to explore the city, including the imposing Taourirt Kasbah, a former residence of the influential Glaoui family, with its maze of clay-built rooms and towers offering a glimpse into pre-Saharan architecture.

From Ouarzazate, continue to Ait Ben Haddou, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the best-preserved kasbahs in the country, its earthen towers and fortified walls having featured in numerous films and TV series. Take some time to wander its ancient alleyways and imagine the centuries of caravans that once passed through.
