Wander through Fes el-Bali, the old walled medina and a UNESCO World Heritage Site, passing through the iconic Bab Boujloud gate and discovering landmarks such as the Bou Inania Madrasa, the Chouara Tannery, and the lively souks filled with artisans still working with traditional methods. Enjoy dinner and an overnight stay in Fes, soaking in the atmosphere of one of Morocco's oldest and most fascinating cities.

Wake up for an early departure south toward the Sahara. Your first stop is Ifrane, often nicknamed Morocco's "Little Switzerland" for its alpine-style architecture and cool mountain air, a refreshing contrast to the medina you've just left behind. Continue through the cedar forests of the Middle Atlas before reaching Midelt, known for its apple orchards and mountain views, where you'll stop for lunch. The road continues through Errachidia and into the palm-lined Ziz Valley, passing traditional kasbahs and dramatic rock formations, before arriving in Erfoud, right on the edge of the Sahara.

From there, the golden dunes of Merzouga await. As the afternoon light softens, you'll be met by camels for a memorable ride into the heart of the Erg Chebbi dunes, watching the sunset paint the sand in shades of orange and gold before arriving at your desert camp for a traditional dinner, live Berber music, and a night spent beneath a sky full of stars.

Wake up early to catch the sunrise over the dunes, one of the most memorable moments of the entire trip, before heading back to camp for breakfast. With a full day to explore, take the opportunity to experience the desert beyond the dunes: visit a local Berber family for traditional tea, try your hand at sandboarding, or take a 4x4 excursion to nearby attractions such as the fossil quarries or the seasonal Lake Dayet Srji, home to flamingos during certain times of year. This extra day in Merzouga gives you the chance to slow down and truly experience Sahara life, from its landscapes to its people and traditions, before another night under the stars.

After one final sunrise over the dunes, head back to Merzouga for breakfast before setting off on the return journey to Fes. Retrace the route back through Erfoud, Errachidia, and Midelt, taking in the changing scenery from desert plains to mountain passes once again. Arrive back in Fes in the evening, where you'll check in to your accommodation for an overnight stay, with time to relax after two full days in the desert.

On your final day, enjoy breakfast before your driver takes you on the drive back to Casablanca, bringing your five-day journey to a close. Depending on timing, there may be an opportunity for a final stop or two along the way.
